Global Business Experience

Georgetown McDonough undergraduates interested in gaining a global perspective while learning valuable consulting skills may apply to the BADM 4090: Global Business Experience (GBE) course. Under faculty supervision, this three-credit course gives students the opportunity to work in teams and conduct a substantive consulting project for an international business organization abroad. The course culminates in a set of recommendations for each of the projects, enabling student teams to travel to the client organization’s country, during the week of spring break or after finals in May, to present their recommendations to the senior management.

Students may apply to one of the following BADM 4090 courses offered in the Spring 2026 semester.

  1. AeroSpace Industry – Professor Ricardo Ernst (Madrid, Spain) *For Global Business Fellows students only
  2. Global Wine Industry – Professor Michael O’Leary (Mendoza, Argentina)
  3. Tourism – Professor Anthony Annan (Nairobi, Kenya)
  4. Energy/Sustainability – Professor Craig O’Connor (Stockholm, Sweden)

Students who have not had a chance to study abroad or engage in a global program are encouraged to apply. Space is limited in each program. Please note that the BADM 4090 courses fulfill the integrated writing requirement, an elective course for international business majors, a free elective for other McDonough majors, or an integrative elective for IBLC students. Please note that this course can not fulfill a liberal arts elective and cannot be taken pass/fail. Only B.S. in Business Administration, B.S. in International Business, Language, and Culture (IBLC), and Global Business Fellows students are eligible to apply.
