The H.O.M.E. Program

The H.O.M.E. (Horizon, Odyssey, Meridian, Empyrean) program at the McDonough School of Business is a comprehensive four-year program. Designed for undergraduate students, it begins with an immersive overnight retreat and extends into a series of monthly workshops. These workshops facilitate a deep exploration of key principles tailored to individual experiences, interests, and career paths. The H.O.M.E. program encourages students to find their own north star with the guiding philosophy that a life steeped in meaning yields profound value to those who seek it.

The H.O.M.E. program is designed for undergraduate business students to gather in communities away from the Hilltop in order to engage in thoughtful dialogue and explore individually and as a community their own journey toward self-actualization and the pursuit of purpose. During this program, students work through a series of reflective exercises, small group dialogue, and facilitated modules by subject matter experts.
Each curated overnight experience is centered holistically around undergraduate students, honoring the idea that each person struggles inherently in their pursuit of self-actualization and a fully formed life. The experience provides a format to explore and discern a roadmap through one’s own struggles to their stars.
The H.O.M.E. program experiences, designed with the student experience and outcomes at the center, can empower and prepare students to take on greater responsibilities in their student roles. Through a process of exploration, reflection, and discernment, students who attend H.O.M.E. programs will:
- Receive mentorship from upperclassmen Hoyas
- Build skills alongside peers and academic and industry experts
- Participate in reflection exercises to develop a stronger sense of self and self-worth
- Develop a deeper sense of self, identity, and strengths in relation to others
- Enhance skill sets for exploring and identifying value across professional and personal networks
- Foster a resilient sense of self-worth and unique value to industry and community
- Be prepared to take on greater responsibilities in their roles on the Hilltop
