About

The McDonough Business Law Society (MBLS) was founded by McDonough’s new head of its Business Law Program, Ross D. The MBLS brings in prominent lawyers to speak to students about their experience and provide insight into the evolving world of business law.

The Georgetown University Finance Society (GUFS) is an undergraduate student organization that empowers members with knowledge, skills, and a valuable network to excel in the finance industry.

About

The Finance Society (the Society) at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business is dedicated to enriching the undergraduate educational experience by providing a platform where members can explore the dynamic world of finance through various angles. We strive to foster a creative environment that encourages innovative thinking and practical learning. Through networking events, guest lectures, and workshops, we connect students with industry leaders and alumni, enhancing their career prospects and industry knowledge. Additionally, the Society serves as a critical vehicle for student engagement for the Psaros Center for Financial Markets and Policy (PCFMP), leveraging the center’s resources to deepen its range of event offerings. Our efforts are also directed towards establishing a student chapter of the Financial Management Association (FMA) at Georgetown, aiming to provide further professional development opportunities and to connect our members with a global network of finance professionals. This dual role enhances our mission to empower students, making the Finance Society a pivotal part of their professional and academic growth.

For more information, please email us at FinanceSociety@georgetown.edu.

The Georgetown Undergraduate Operations and Analytics Society

About

The OPAN Society seeks to promote the value of the OPAN major, improve the student experience, expand career opportunities, and build industry connections with technology companies through networking events, workshops, and other professional resources.

Goals

Our mission upholds a three-pronged mission in bettering Georgetown as a whole.

  1. Expand opportunities for students
    • We will offer professional-development in operations and analytics opportunities for every student, like resume reviews, mock interviews, and networking.
  2. Facilitate dialogue with the OPAN area faculty
    • We will facilitate connections between the OPAN area faculty to improve the OPAN major, the students’ experience, and the success of all OPAN and non-OPAN students at MSB.
  3. Industry connections
    • Finally, we wish to create an environment where students interested in companies’ business roles in technology, operations, analytics, and data science can learn more about them, and in turn, establish industry connections for OPAN students to pursue skills, roles, and careers.

How to get involved

The board of the OPAN Society is composed of two core roles and one optional role, like auxiliary roles as needed for areas including marketing, external outreach, and advertising.

  1. OPAN Board President (Senior)
  2. OPAN Board Vice President (Junior)
  3. OPAN Undergraduate Officer (Sophomore) (*Optional role)

These three roles will be primarily responsible for representing the OPAN department and the faculty sponsor. There is no defined general membership role – it is primarily the board organizing events and outreach, and anyone can attend OPAN Society events.

If you are interested, please email Manato Matsuoka (mm5142@georgetown.edu) to learn how you can get involved. Events will be distributed by email, newsletter, and Instagram.
