Smart Start is a signature program sponsored by PwC offering a series of workshops during the academic year that equips a diverse pool of first- and second-year students with the tools for academic, personal, and professional success. In keeping with the Jesuit ideal of “women and men for others,” participants are mentored by peers and by Georgetown alumni who work at PwC. In addition, as a result of their participation in Smart Start, several students have been hired as interns at PwC.

Bryce Badger, 2017-2018 Smart Start Graduate (B ‘21)
Bryce Badger participated in Smart Start during his freshman year, and later became a Smart Start mentor during his sophomore and junior years. Badger was a start intern at PwC in Summer 2019, an advance intern in PwC’s Risk Consulting practice in Summer 2020, and now works full-time at PwC as a technology strategy senior associate in PwC’s Technology & Transformation practice. Smart Start helped Badger gain professional and personal growth that laid the framework for future success.
“Smart Start set me up with the hard and soft skills I needed to get my foot in the door at every company I applied to. By the time recruiting season rolled around, I was prepared not only to nail the interview and case studies at various firms, but also make a decision for which firm was the right choice for me using a decision-making process that made sense. Having already experienced the culture of PwC, I knew it was my top choice and I haven’t regretted it once since.”

Sherif Abdelwadood, 2020-2021 Smart Start Graduate (B’24)
Sherif Abdelwadood participated in Smart Start during his sophomore year, and later became a Smart Start mentor during his junior year. Abdelwadood interned at PwC Dubai as a government and public sector intern in Summer 2023. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in finance and operations and analytics, Abdelwadood successfully started his career with an investment banking firm in Dubai.
“Being a part of Smart Start for two years allowed me to prepare for my professional career while creating strong relationships with such amazing friends and mentors.”
